LO2: Advertising and distribution

The Legend of Zelda Majora's Mask 3D is a 3DS game made by Nintendo, the LOZ series is famous and extremely popular. The audience can access and buy this game online at the Nintendo online store, CEX, on eBay and Amazon. The 3DS has been discontinued by Nintendo and this 3D version of the game was released on the 13th of February 2015. This means lots of stores do not hold the game anymore. Argos and Game would have had the game when it was released. The audience can consume the game/media on the Nintendo 3DS. It has been advertised on TV and as a YouTube advert.

Technological convergence has had an impact on advertising. We can now have advertisements on our blackbox devices like our phone, tablet and so on which has also given us a wider range of advertising channels to use on the internet (social media, YouTube). Before we would have used traditional advertising like posters and TV adverts. This has impacted The LOZ Majora's mask 3D as the game has been advertised on TV as a traditional advertising method. However, technological convergence has given us the tools for the game to be advertised on YouTube which is web 3.0 (recommendations from the website). This would mean that The LOZ Majora's mask 3D could be in the recommendations bar on YouTube and the game trailer could be shown before videos.

Above The Line advertising is when you are advertising to the general population like using posters and TV adverts. Below The Line advertising is advertising personally; they will advertise to you through emails or phone calls. Traditional advertising examples are TV adverts, posters, film trailers, radio adverts, leaflets and so on.
